Best Time to Visit Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan is a year-round destination with distinctly rewarding seasonal personalities. Spring (March to May) is the finest season overall — comfortably warm temperatures of 15–25°C, wildflowers carpeting the Chimgan hillsides, and Samarkand’s tilework glowing in particularly beautiful soft light. Autumn (September to November) is equally spectacular, with golden harvest-season bazaars, pleasant days, and excellent photography conditions across both Tashkent and Samarkand. Summer (June to August) brings intense heat to the lowland cities, often exceeding 38°C in Samarkand, but Chimgan and Charvak Lake provide refreshing mountain escapes and are at peak popularity for water sports. Winter (December to February) brings snow and cold to Tashkent but transforms Amirsoy into a premier ski destination — ideal for winter sports enthusiasts. For Indian travellers, the March–May and September–October windows offer the best combination of comfortable weather, peak natural beauty, and ideal sightseeing conditions across all three destinations in this itinerary.

Frequently asked questions
Q1. Do Indian tourists need a visa to visit Uzbekistan?
Great news for Indian travellers — Uzbekistan offers a straightforward e-Visa system for Indian passport holders, obtainable online through the official portal (e-visa.uz) before your trip. The e-Visa allows a stay of up to 30 days and is typically processed within 3–5 working days. The visa fee is approximately USD 20 (subject to change). Alternatively, Indian nationals may apply at the Uzbekistan Embassy in India. Our team can provide a complete documentation checklist to ensure a smooth and successful visa application. Uzbekistan’s open, traveller-friendly visa policy is one of the many reasons it is rapidly becoming a top destination for Indian holiday makers.
Q2. Which ferry type is used for the Athens to Mykonos and Mykonos to Santorini crossings?
The Afrosiyob is Uzbekistan’s flagship high-speed rail service — a modern, Spanish-built Talgo train that operates at speeds of up to 250 km/h and covers the 344 km Tashkent–Samarkand route in approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes. Named after the legendary mythological king of Samarkand, the Afrosiyob features comfortable air-conditioned economy and business-class carriages, a restaurant car, panoramic windows, and smooth, quiet operation. Economy class return tickets for both the outbound and return journeys are fully included in this ₹37,999 package. The train journey itself — gliding across the Central Asian steppe with views of distant mountains — is considered a highlight by many travellers.
Q3. What activities are available at Charvak Lake and Chimgan Mountains?
The Chimgan Mountain and Charvak Lake area offers a wonderful range of activities across all seasons. In summer (May to September), you can enjoy swimming and sunbathing at Charvak Lake’s turquoise shores, optional jet-skiing, boat rides, and the extraordinary experience of paragliding above the lake (all payable directly at the site). Hiking and mountain trekking trails are available around Chimgan with varying difficulty levels. The Amirsoy cable car ride (entrance included in the package) provides spectacular aerial views across the mountain range. In winter (December to March), Amirsoy Resort becomes one of Central Asia’s top ski and snowboarding destinations with well-maintained slopes for all levels.
Q4. Is Uzbekistan safe for Indian tourists to visit?
Uzbekistan is widely considered one of the safest countries in Central Asia for international tourists. The country has made significant investments in tourism infrastructure, safety, and hospitality over the past decade, and Indian travellers consistently report feeling warmly welcomed and comfortable throughout their visit. Tashkent and Samarkand are modern, well-policed cities with an active tourism presence. The local population is generally friendly and hospitable toward foreign visitors. Standard travel precautions apply as with any international destination: keep copies of your travel documents, be aware of your surroundings in busy bazaars, and ensure you have comprehensive travel insurance. Our ground team will be available for support throughout your stay.
Q5. What currency is used in Uzbekistan and how should Indian travellers manage money?
The official currency of Uzbekistan is the Uzbekistani Som (UZS). As of 2025, the exchange rate is approximately 1 USD = 12,500–13,000 UZS, making Uzbekistan an exceptionally affordable destination for Indian travellers — meals, local transport, and souvenirs are very reasonably priced. It is recommended to carry USD or Euros for currency exchange, as these are widely accepted at banks, exchange booths, and hotels across Tashkent and Samarkand. Indian Rupees can be exchanged at select money changers in Tashkent. Credit cards (Visa and Mastercard) are increasingly accepted at larger hotels and restaurants in Tashkent, but cash remains essential for bazaars, local eateries, and transport. Our team will provide a full pre-departure briefing on currency, tips, and local costs.
